In an effort to further the city of New Orleans and it’s recovery after Hurricane Katrina, Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman provided the leadership to sponsor and create Helping Seniors, Inc. The purpose of Helping Seniors, Inc is to address a problem that plagues our community as a result of the Hurricane Katrina and the floods that devastated the area. In the aftermath of Katrina, the Senior Citizens of New Orleans have been exposed to a second and potentially more damaging type of destruction, “CONTRACTOR FRAUD”.
Through Helping Seniors, Inc, Sheriff Gusman has a plan in place to provide financial assistance to those Senior Citizens who have been victimized by unscrupulous contractors.
The program will:

1. Have a system of reporting the fraud
2. Investigate and prosecute guilty individuals
3. Raise monies to disburse to affected individuals
